Chosen by God
/“You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.” John 15:16
Did you know that you were chosen? That God chose you to know Him? The Bible shows us that we cannot know God unless he has drawn us to him. (John 6:44). This truth is so great, so profound, that it can be difficult to grab hold of its meaning. The creator of the heavens and the earth, chose YOU. It means that you are known. That you are deeply loved. And it also means, God has a purpose for your life.
God created each of us with a precision impossible to imagine. “you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139: 13b) Every part of our personality, our gifting, our character traits, every element of who we are was designed by our Heavenly Father. Whether you’re outgoing, shy, determined, patient, creative, analytical, whatever those traits are, each one God placed in you. And he did so, with a purpose.
There is a purpose on your life. A mission to fulfill that only you can do. As we look back at John 15:16, we see that after Jesus tells us we are chosen, he immediately tells us why “I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit.” The first question you may be asking, “what does he mean by fruit?”. The fruit Jesus mentions, is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Galatians 5:22) What Jesus doesn’t say is for us to be these things. Should we be loving, joyful, patient, kind? Absolutely. But Jesus is leading to something greater in this verse. He’s giving us an assignment. We are to “go and produce” lasting fruit. These are action words. To go is to move and to produce is to “cause to happen or come into existence”.
Our faith in God was not meant to be something we just believe. It wasn’t meant to be passive. It wasn’t even meant to be one day a week. Our faith was meant to be a relationship with God that is living, active, an assignment and an adventure. The purpose of this blog is to help you grow in your relationship with our Father. To encourage you. To provide opportunities to step into your faith and discover with our Father what assignments he has for you specifically. For all of us to live out the purpose God has for each of our lives. And to go and produce lasting fruit.
Praying blessings of peace, joy and confident hope in Jesus.
