What Can I Do for You? | Aug. 18, 2024

This week Pastor Dale talked to us about loving our neighbor. Loving our neighbor involves more than simply avoiding hate or indifference; it requires actively working toward their well-being and embracing vulnerability. This genuine care and compassion foster a community where openness is encouraged rather than feared. Jesus calls us to expand our perspective and move beyond our current mindset, emphasizing that convictions without compassion lead to chaos, which He came to overcome with shalom.

Jesus further calls us to be perfect as God is perfect. The Greek concept of perfection is less about being faultless and more about realizing your intended purpose. Our purpose is fulfilled when we mirror God's love when by continuously caring for others regardless of their actions. Jesus’ command to love one another as He loves us highlights that true discipleship is demonstrated through this unwavering love.

As you encounter others this week, rather than asking, "Why don't you...?", we invite you to consider how you can ask, "What can I do for you?"
