In this series, Pastor Steve Dang walks us through what home is and our longing for it during this Christmas season.

Home for Christmas | Dec 5, 2021

This week we welcomed back our beloved friend Steve Dang who kicked off an incredible new series, Home for Christmas. Christmas is such a special season, one that often comes in a variety pack of feelings that range from lament to joy. The good news of Christmas is that if you're broken or lost, Jesus has stepped into that reality to tell you whatever it is you're facing, you matter. You are deeply loved by God. The good news of Christmas is that it's for you. It's about Jesus stepping into our brokenness. How do we respond to the fact that Jesus comes? Three things we can do: 1. Recognize: Things are not as they should be 2. Respond to Jesus: We can either receive him or reject him 3. Remember: Remember the good news - God's presence changes everything. In this season, we have the opportunity to pause, reflect and prepare our hearts for the work Jesus is looking to do in us and through us.

In today's teaching, Pastor Steve continued our series, Home for Christmas. We looked at the beautiful truth, that God longs to dwell with us. His desire is to be in the very center of our lives. Where we as humans often struggle, is trusting him, particularly when we don't know where he's taking us. The questions we often ask: Where are you going? How can we trust you? God is looking for us to trust him. To believe in who He is, His love for us, and to trust where he is taking us. How do we do this? Pastor Steve encouraged us with three steps we can take. 1. Go all-in on Jesus. Be obedient in the little things he calls us to do. 2. Make the way of Jesus the way of life. The goal is to become more like Jesus with every step of faith, every day. 3. Hang tough in the hardships. Make the "remain thing the main thing".

Home for Christmas | Dec 19, 2021

This week, Pastor Steve concluded our series, Home for Christmas. Pastor Steve unpacked what it means for us to be Temples of the Holy Spirit and how we can embody the good news of Jesus in our everyday lives. We looked at scripture and how 1 Peter 2:9 shows us our role as priests in His Kingdom, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.". While the thought of being a priest for His Kingdom may feel overwhelming, Pastor Steve gave us practical ways to do so: 1. Hold firmly that Jesus is the answer. 2. Sometimes people will say "yes" to us before they say "yes" to Jesus. 3. Practice loving your neighbor.
