1 Thessalonians: The Future of Everything
As only God's Word can do, we'll see how this ancient letter from Paul offers a striking similarity to what we're experiencing today, offering hope and encouragement in uncertain times.

Today, Pastor David concluded 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5. We are given instructions from Paul on how we can live and prepare for Jesus' return. We are guided to live in healthy relationships in three key areas: 1) people around you, 2) leaders among you, and 3) God above you. Pastor David encouraged us to pause and reflect, what area is in need of attention in our lives? Our invitation is to spend this next week, investing in that area. Is there forgiveness needed? Is there an opportunity to serve, encourage, reconcile? If the relationship needing attention is with God, is there an area God is looking for you to surrender and trust Him in?
We encourage you to take some time today, pause, and sit with our Father to ask these questions. Commit to one area of relationship and an action you can take this week.

In today’s teaching, Pastor Dave walked us through 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5. Here we see Paul's warning to be alert and of sober mind. That a key tactic of the enemy is to lull God's sons and daughters into comfort, into numbness, asleep in our faith to pull us away from God. It's been a hard year. But has the enemy used that hard year to get us to fall asleep and distance us from the one who brings light, healing, joy, truth? Pastor Dave gave us three questions to ask ourselves: 1) Are there places in my life where my allegiance to God has strayed? 2) What is my attitude toward those who are different than me? 3) Am I losing hope that God sees and cares? That He will make all things new?
We encourage you to take some time today, pause, and sit with our Father to ask these questions. Is there a place in your life he wants to speak into? An area where darkness has crept in where he can shine his loving light?

Today, we focused again on 1 Thessalonians Chapter 4. As followers of Jesus, we know the road is not easy. Jesus told us with certainty that we will have trouble in this life. We experience pain, loss, deep grief. And yet, even in our darkest moments, we have the certain hope of Jesus. The hope that comes with knowing Jesus is coming again. All things will be made right. No more death, no more pain, and God himself with us.

Our focus this morning was on 1 Thessalonians 4 as we looked at God's will for how we live. As God's sons and daughters, we are called to live lives set apart and different from culture. Those around us are to see something different in how we work, how we treat others, how we live, and in seeing that, are drawn to the goodness of Jesus.

In today’s teaching, we studied 1 Thessalonians Chapter 3. Pastor Jay reminded us of the truth that despite all we're going through, incredible hope and confidence are available to us. The Lord gives us hope, confidence, peace, and joy despite the chaos that is around us. It is through His Holy Spirit in us, that allows us to live in His peace. The Lord does the work we cannot do. He strengthens our hearts and gives us hope and peace as we know He is coming again.

This week, we looked at 1 Thessalonians Chapter 2. Pastor Dave showed us how Paul honored Jesus in how he led and lived among the Thessalonians. Paul shows us by living faithfully to Jesus, we bring honor to Him, as people are able to see who He is through us. Our lives become a testimony of how Jesus heals, cleans, transforms and saves. In this way, God uses us to bring his message of healing and hope to those around us.

In this week’s teaching, we looked at 1 Thessalonians Chapter 1. Pastor Steve spoke on the things that keep us from being the people Paul describes who operate out of faith, hope, and love. We may be feeling depleted, divided, or distracted. It's so easy to feel all three in the season we've been in and the valley we live in. The Good News, in addition to Jesus, are the practical things we can do to not only combat these things, but also to grow. Those steps are: 1) training in spiritual rhythms in our lives, 2) practicing missional generosity in our lives, and 3) being in authentic community.

This morning, Pastor Jay Kim kicked off our new series on 1 Thessalonians. He reminded us of the hope and confidence we can take from Paul's letter and our faith in Jesus, that He will come again and take away all pain. Because of our certain future, we can live now with peace that exceeds the circumstances around us.
